Blurb:
Rachel Ford-Talbot has nothing to do
with her family or their pharmaceutical business. And she likes it that way. As
one of four partners who own an internationally renowned security business,
Rachel prefers to leave her past, with all its secrets, deeply buried.
But when a series of thefts reveal that the family business is being targeted for industrial espionage, her father begs Rachel to investigate. His illness makes it hard for her to refuse, but Rachel wonders if he truly understands what he’s unleashing on his company. Because she isn’t the same bright-eyed graduate that walked through their doors years earlier. Now, she’s strong, powerful, and somewhat terrifying. A woman who doesn’t suffer fools lightly and who is afraid of nothing.
She also isn’t alone.
This time, she has the might and expertise of Benson Security at her back. And an ex-CIA agent at her side—because Michael “Harvard” Carter has appointed himself her bodyguard for the duration. Even though Rachel doesn’t need, or want, the annoyingly sexy man’s help. But while the world sees a first-class bitch when they look at her, Michael sees only someone who intrigues him. Which makes him the biggest threat of all.
***This is a standalone novel. You don’t have to have read any of my other books to enjoy it.***

"If
you have seen the other reviews, then right away you know that once
again, Janet has completed another perfect book. How does she keep doing
it!
It's hard hitting and emotional at times, but what I loved about this book was Rachel's determination not to continue being a victim to something that happened in her past. Having always loved her sass, we are drenched in it in this roller coaster story that shows us her diverse and at times eccentric family and we get a strong insight into Harvard's mind, and understand his attraction to Rachel.
Once again a great book, so worth your time." - April Neal, Goodreads

"Janet has done it again. This book has it all...Humor, suspense, action, romance. All the
characters we have come to love plus some new ones. I couldn’t put it
down, read it in one day and will definitely read it again. Well done,
Janet. Keep them coming PLEASE." - Barbara Lindsell, Goodreads

"I
read this in one day! It has so much action along with romance. I love
getting to know more about each of the characters and see all the ways
they interact and grow. This might be my favorite, but I think I say that
after every book from JEH. She is the queen of romantic action!" - Monica, Goodreads

"I've
had a soft spot for prickly, standoffish Rachel for a long time, but
now I've got a fully-developed, bona fide girl crush on this kick-ass
leading lady!
Patient, almost unflappable Harvard is her perfect counterpart, and I loved seeing him slowly, bit by bit, working his way behind Rachel's defenses.
While the story - like all Benson Security books - is dealing with some tough topics, I appreciate the way Janet Elizabeth Henderson handles the delicate balance between traumatic subject matter and her trademark humor.
If I had to pick a favorite scene, it would be Harvard taking Rachel Bachata dancing - the swoon is dialed up to eleven, for sure!" - Regina, Goodreads

Intriguing!
Let's chat with the author for a bit...
Can you tell us a little bit about your life or background? When
did your first book come and where can we get it?
I was born in Scotland, but moved to New Zealand a few years
ago. Originally, I studied at art college, and spent years as an exhibiting
artist. But, I always wrote and my dream was to become a full time writer.
After trying to write in several genres, I started writing romance about ten
years ago and I’ve been in love with it ever since. If you’re new to my work,
then a good place to start is with Lingerie Wars. It’s a contemporary rom com,
set in Scotland, and is first in that series. It’s also on sale right now –
along with all seven books in that series. 😊
Wow, that's great!
A lot of readers love origin stories. What inspired you to start writing in the first place?
I’ve always been an avid reader and was obsessed with crime
novels for years. So, the first adult book I wrote was in that genre. I moved
away from crime fiction when my youngest daughter was born with a deformed foot
and leg. She was in terrible pain for the first few years of her life, and I
was awake all night, every night, with her. She’d only sleep for about forty
minutes at a time before the pain woke her again. While she slept, I read.
Well, this was in the days just before Kindle was a thing, and I hit a night
where I’d run out of books to read—so I thought I’d just write my own. I wrote
my first romance in a few weeks, using those short bursts of time during the
night when my daughter was asleep. When it was finished, I sent it to
Harlequin, who wanted it but who also managed to lose it three times in two
years. By this time, I’d written three more romantic comedies and my daughter
had had several successful operations on her leg which meant she was pain free,
healthy and sleeping properly at last. That also meant it was time for me to go
back to work — high school teaching — and I didn’t want to, I wanted to write.
Wow, I can't blame you there!
So, let me ask a different question...
How did you get into writing romance?
I couldn’t cope with the tension in crime novels anymore. I wanted to read something full of hope. Which is how I ended up reading every romance I could get my hands on. A friend, who was self-published, suggested I pull my books from Harlequin, as they were taking too long anyway, and try publishing them myself. I did just that. And because they sold well, I was able to stay home and write, instead of going back to teaching. Now, I’ve just finished my 21st book, I’m a self-published and traditionally published author, and my head is full of stories I want to write. And the kid who kept me up nights is taking all the credit for my success. She says without her to spur me on, I’d still be teaching. She has a point! 😊
LOL. Well, I say do whatever makes you happy.
So, what, do you feel, sets Rich apart from
other books in the romantic suspense genre?
Probably the thing that sets Rich apart the most is
the subject matter. In the prologue, right at the start of the book so readers
can decide if they want to continue, we find out that the heroine was raped and
blackmailed ten years earlier. The rest of the book deals with the blackmailer
rearing their ugly head again, and Rachel being reminded of her trauma. I don’t
go into detail about her attack. The book is more about how she has survived it
and how strong she is. But I can tell you for a fact that you’d be hard pressed
to get a traditional publisher to put out a book with this as a plot. It’s a
difficult subject matter, that most publishers steer clear of. But, because
I’ve self-published it, I get to choose what I want to write about. Please
don’t think this book is dark and gloomy though, it takes place ten years after
the attack, and it’s full of humor and hope. I wanted it to be a celebration of
a survivor, not a study on the trauma itself. I think that makes Rich stand out
from the crowd.
Great!
