My guest today is Robin Leigh Morgan. Hello! Welcome back to Writing in the Modern Age! It’s a pleasure to have you here.
First, Marie, THANKS for allowing me to be a guest
on your blog again. It’s been a long time since I last visited it; May 24, 2013
to be precise.
You're welcome! That's right, though for myself, I've seen you around here and there! Good to see you on the blog again.
So, Robin, can you tell us a little bit about your latest book? When did it come out? Where can we get it?
Since
the time I visited this blog, I’ve self-published my second book, Micro
Fiction: An Anthology, amongst other things. For those interested, my book, which is
available on Amazon, is both a paperback and KINDLE version. The KINDLE version
of the book came out on December 1, 2014, followed by the paperback version the
following day.
Here’s
the link for the KINDLE:
Great! Congrats on another book release! That's always exciting! ;)
So, tell us...
Is there anything that prompted Micro Fiction? Something that inspired you?
As
I wrote my debut middle-grade/YA Paranormal Romance novel, I Kissed a Ghost, I found a
wonderful site which helped me several times in getting through that dreaded
condition all writers get from time to time known as 'Writer’s Block'. The site is called Five Sentence Fiction,
which had been created by Lillie McFerrin in 2012; and just as the name implies
everyone who wants to participate needs to write a fictional story consisting
of only five sentences based on the prompt word for the week.
If
you think writing five sentences is difficult, I took it a step further by
using the prompt word to form the base of an acrostic around which I wrote my
five sentences. You can see what I mean in the preview pages for the book on
Amazon. I invite you to visit this site to see what you can do with the prompt
word given for the week.
Wanting
to get a second book published, and making slow progress regarding my two WIPs,
which are currently on hold due to what’s been happening in my life since
almost the beginning of this year, I decided to compile an anthology of the
stories I’d already written as well as new ones for the prompt words I hadn’t
responded to before. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to visit the site for
quite a while.
All right. Sounds great. We'll be sure to check out that site out!
When did you know you wanted to write, Robin? Or has it always been a pastime of yours?
I
actually dwelled on this topic the last time I had the pleasure of visiting
Marie Lavender’s blog here. At that time I wrote about my transition from
writing commentary type items for a community newspaper to writing my first
romance novel. If anyone is interested in reading my guest post, here’s the link.
Fascinating post, of course!
So, let's talk about your writing process. Do you write in a specific place? Time of day?
I
used to write in the second bedroom I have in my apartment during the day and
at night while my dear OH was at work or had gone to bed.
These
days, with my dear having been in hospitals and rehab twice, it’s only while
the 24/7 home attendant we have is not sleeping in this room.
So sorry to hear about what's been happening. Life can certainly drag us away from our writing...
Robin, are there any words you'd like to impart to fellow writers? Any advice?
Writing
can at times be quite arduous; do not get discouraged.
Do not take any
criticism as criticism, especially from a fellow author. Take it as a form of
guidance from one author to another.
All great advice! Thank you for offering those words of wisdom.
And thank
you so much for stopping by to visit us here today at Writing in the
Modern Age. It was so nice having you here! :)
Micro Fiction - An Anthology is a collection of responses by Robin Leigh
Morgan to the prompt word provided by Lillie McFerrin each Thursday on
her website http://www.lilliemcferrin.com . Some of the responses have
appeared previously on the author's blog sites, others have been written
for inclusion in this book.
Here is an excerpt on Amazon.

I've been named the third place winner in a Flash Fiction Contest and I also had a Flash Fiction published in the premiere edition of The Greenwich Village Literary Review. For a change of pace and with 2 WIPs still on the back burner, I've decided to leave my comfort zone - - I've begun to write a LGBT erotic romance novelette.
