Writing in the Modern Age 2017 Year in Review
For
our 416th post, I’d like to take a moment to offer a flashback of
sorts regarding some of our blog’s events.
Since
its guest author launch in 2013, Writing in the Modern Age has taken on an
exciting life of its own! I can’t thank our guest writers, published authors
and blog readers enough for seeing us through all those great changes! What
began as a potential haven for writers at any stage to seek encouragement and
advice in their careers has evolved into a fun place for readers of any book
genre to find their new favorite author. And, of course, writers at any
stage of their careers can still find great writing tips!
So,
what did occur this year? Let me tell you...
We
had multiple interviews, both with authors and characters (shocking – we had one with a kitty!), some great guest
posts about author journeys, with writers providing advice, as well as poetry
spotlights, book and blog tour features, an Author’s Bookshelf feature or two,
and a few big book giveaways hosted on the blog. This year, we got to celebrate
our 400th Anniversary post with a great giveaway, in which multiple
authors donated their books. We had almost 1200 views on that post alone! Yay!
:) With well over 60 posts this year and 100 participating authors, I’d say
we’ve done rather well!
In
2017, we had a wonderful start with women’s fiction author Rita Plush’s great
guest post
at the onset of the year, to Chelsea Quinn Yarbo’s
spotlight on a cool character from her paranormal historical mystery novel, and Alistair Cross’s
interview
regarding his dark fantasy novel, to Branka Ĉubrilo’s
complex writing journey with one of her latest novels, all the way to a
feature on Diane Merrill
Wigginton’s Jeweled Dagger Series, and a couple book features for
Beverley Oakley (not to mention three new articles by yours truly). So much has
happened!
Again,
thank you all so much for visiting the blog this year, whether you’re a loyal
follower or a newcomer, you guested on the blog (see our ‘blog policy’, which offers more
information about contributing if you’re a writer), or just simply stumbled
across our site from social media. We’d like to offer you a load of gratitude
from the bottom of our hearts!
